6th Boro Hoops is proud to be an official partner of the Rising Stars Youth Foundation and offer children opportunities and development that extends far beyond the hardwood. From classroom tutoring sessions to outreach programs, high school scholarships, and college advisory sessions, Rising Stars allows us to truly impact athletes in a meaningful way.
Established in 1996, The Rising Stars Youth Foundation’s mission is to utilize the game of basketball as the vehicle to promote education, reinforce values, and provide our youth with a safe environment to PLAY, LEARN, and GROW.
RISING STARS MAKES SURE KIDS ARE IN THE GAME!
Over 50% of all players in the program participate free of charge or with financial assistance. Kids receive uniforms, attend weekly practice and training and get to play in competitive tournaments. This season alone, there are 189 boys and girls receiving aid which amounts to $181,585.
RISING STARS MAKES SURE KIDS STAY OFF THE STREETS ON THE COURTS!
Our outreach program has over made a significant change in at risk areas with over 100 boys and girls starting as young as 9 years old. This is done through partnering with youth organizations like the YMCA to provide children with team participation, weekly tutoring, family and school advocacy, YMCA memberships, and access to our full –time educational director for any assistance and help.
RISING STARS MAKES COLLEGE DREAMS COME TRUE!
For the 2018-19 school year, we will provide 37 boys and girls with educational scholarships to attend various private high schools in the tristate area. The students are receiving so much more than just tuition; they are being given all the tools needed for success. 95% of our scholars are Honor Roll students at their perspective high schools including the kids who struggled in school before earning scholarships. This program changes kids’ lives!
RISING STARS GOES INTO THE COMMUNITY!
Rising Stars partners in many community-based events to expose our scholars to volunteerism and service projects through our “Hearts and Hoops” initiative. · Through this initiative our children receive educational workshops, community service projects, trainings, and leadership programs promoting our mission of focusing on mind, body and character.
